Email Designer/Developer, Graphic Designer, Illustrator

I created a set of emails, dubbed “Birthday Factory”, as a learning exercise to develop Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SMC) familiarity. I learned some basic AMPScript and created a 2-step email journey. I drafted the designs in Figma and re-created them in the SMC Email tool using HTML and CSS.

The first email introduces the reader to the fictional brand “Birthday Factory”, a company that offers customized birthday parties, a prompts the reader with the CTA: “Let’s Do It!”, a button that leads to a Microsoft Form. This form collects the user’s inputs for their name, birthday, preferred cake flavor, preferred restaurant gift card, and preferred vacation destination, and is then used for the next email.

The next email is then dynamically loaded with the recipient’s name, birthday, and custom illustrations of their preferred cake flavor, preferred restaurant gift card, and preferred vacation destination. The gift comes with a “Redeem!” button, and the vacation destination comes with a “Book your flight now!” button.

In this project, I…

  • Developed 2 emails in Salesforce Marketing Cloud using HTML, CSS, and AMPScript

  • Designed a brand and email mockups in Figma

  • Utilized data collected from Microsoft Form inputs, such as first name, email, and drop-down menu selections, in a follow-up email

A short recap of the process of making the “Birthday Factory” email journey in the Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
